Tonight it dawned in me that at this time a year ago, I was in the midst of the largest half marathon my little city had ever seen. After working for several months on the event, including adding a 10k, I was hoping it would go off without a hitch. A rain delay for a full day and a pretty big shirt mix up pushed the event to Sunday instead of Saturday.
I worked my tail off for that race! No, I didn't make a dime but the $12,000 we were able to donate to our local Cancer Center made those long hours worth it.
I had also tested positive on a pregnancy test but didn't tell the hubs because I knew he would "gently" encourage me not to stay up until 1 am the two weeks leading up to the race.
Fast forward one week later, a doctors appointment confirmed the pregnancy, I told the hubs about it and we were able to laugh about why I kept it a secret.
So here I am...planning to just help with a little part of the race tomorrow morning. Sure, I have helped a tad here and there, gave some advice and helped find volunteers but no where near what I did over the last two years. You know that 10k I mentioned earlier? Well, I thought that would be a good way to generate some extra interest. And, I'm running that race this year...and excited about it!
I can't help but wonder if I will ever direct a race again. Who knows? But, for now, it is pretty nice being able to pick an choose to help just a tad here and there.
Oh, and it is pretty cool to think that I now have a 4 month old baby sleeping in his little bed in my room. Never imagined that would have been the case a year ago.

Troy likes to tell people what to do. Huh? The first born tells people what to do? This includes his brothers, of course. Playing dress up and wearing matching clothes is RIGHT up his alley these days. He was so proud about wearing matching PJ’s with his brothers. Of course you cannot call himself or his brothers by their given name. In costume, the name he will answer to is the name of the character in which he dresses. This night it was “Woody”. And Justin and Blaine were also Woody.

It took about a week after the New Year came for me to realize we had already scheduled to get Blaine Christened (or baptized). All of a sudden I needed to take pictures and send out invites. With the other two boys, we invited our friends and family. This time, just to make it a little more intimate (and for me to stay sane), we’re inviting just the family.
Anyway, I took Blaine’s pictures this week…and got the invites off in time. Yay! I’ll post more later, of course.

I decided to try and take one photo a week to post. We’ll see how I do.
The first week of January 2013, I cooked. A. Lot. Does that mean I’ll be cooking for the rest of the year? Sure hope so.
One thing I’ve been doing is making things ahead of time and substituting healthier options for things. The kids eat somewhat healthy snacks. So I took a picture of what I made one night during that first week in January: whole wheat waffles, whole wheat toaster pastries (similar to a Pop Tart) and homemade granola bars. All are very good!

"They” say that whatever you are doing when you ring in the new year is what you’ll be doing most of the next year, right? Blaine was sleeping. I kissed my hubby and immediately went to sleep.
Who are “they” anyway?

My dad. I know I never talk about him, but here he is. It’s actually a good picture. And, he was having (in my opinion) a good day in that he was playing with his grandchildren. Missing is Ryder.

Jesus’ birthday. Such a special day because without our Lord and Savior, there would be no hope. Cheers to hope!
It was a busy day but a wonderful day! I was going to pick one picture but couldn’t decide. These are my favs:
My three blessings:
Lunch…I actually pulled off lunch for 15 people with no delays. Whew! Oh….and everybody brought something. I supplied the turkey and beans.
KK came early and helped A LOT!
KK made these super hero capes for the boys. So cute!
