As I headed home this day…yay!

photo(21)

I stopped in to see my grandmother in West Alabama. This is a bonsai tree…it is at least 60 years old!

Within 15 minutes of me arriving home, we packed the boys in the car and headed to Opelika’s Christmas in a Railroad Town. We got to a restaurant by 5:10 and within 10 minutes, the place was packed. We had a great time, though. Troy wanted to get in the firetruck (below) and immediately started turning the steering wheel as fast as he could. The firefighters got a kick out of him. We had to make him get out of the truck. The line to see Santa was pretty long so we told him he could just wave…and he was content with that (this year).

Oh Auburn, how I love thee….

(this post wasn’t posted when I wrote it so I’m doing it now…almost a month late)…

…We live in a pretty fabulous town. There are always things to do here. If someone says there’s nothing to do, well, they’re not looking. Just about any given day you can find something to do…it might cost some money but there’s something to do.

even for working families like us…

Auburn Basketball and Football are two, to name a couple. Justin and Blaine went to their first ones in November.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how well behaved our children have been so far. They’ve been so good that we are motivated to get out and about. We thought (initially) that it was nuts taking a 2 month old, 20 month old and a 3 year old to basketball and football games. But, it works and they were all so GOOD! I’m praising them and thanking the Lord they have been so good.

My in-laws continued their yearly tradition of coming to our house and watching our kids so we can go to the games – yes, you read that right. It’s been fun to say the least and gave us a little time to spend together hanging out.

To say that Auburn had a rough season is an understatement. As of December, coach Chizik has been let go (after a 3 year stint including one National Championship) and the former offensive line coach has been hired. All of the assistant coaches were not asked to return. There are now new coaches who bring with them a bunch of anxiety and hope from the fans. While I love going to games, I try not to get all wrapped up in having opinions on things I don’t know enough about (i.e. the ins and outs of coaching and why they do what they do).

The boys wrestled with Brian and had a BLAST!

Work trip. Sad morning…sort of. Baby Blaine slept all night but I fully expected to have a little one on one time with him and feed him before I had to leave (at 6 a.m.). He didn’t wake before I left so I took a picture of him and kissed him.

Then I drove here….

It’s been a while since I’d been to Mississippi. My good friend Amy lives there (and we work together) so we got to hang out. She probably doesn’t know it but she made the trip much more bearable. She’s hilarious and always fun to be around! She took me to the Crescent Grill and we had some yummy food followed by an interesting trip to a place called the Treasure Hunt. If you ever see one, GOOO! You can find some pretty awesome deals in there. Most of their inventory was from stores along the Northeast that were damaged by hurricane Sandy.

Oh, and I stopped in to see my Mamama on my way home. Probably made her week (not that I’m bragging or anything).

At well past 10 p.m., I noticed on the video monitor that Troy was laying upside down in his bed. I decided to sneak in his room and take his picture….this is what I got:

That little sucker was wide awake! He told me he was upside down and his blanket was his pillow. Whatever.

So I’m trying this photo a day thing…I’ve taken one each day but am tardy at posting them. Here goes:

I took Troy and Justin to Auburn’s Polar Express celebration. They played with trains (or watched the trains), played with blocks, had crafts, rode a little train, saw Santa and listened to the book being read while they ate milk and cookies. Pretty fun, I must say. Of course their favorite was watching the train .

Blaine at Three Months!

I started writing this and realized he’s THREE months (not the two I originally started to post). He’s my love…just so sweet, tender, patient and loving. All smiles! Three month old Blaine loves to grin and look you square in the eyes like he’s trying to say “thank you for holding me, thank you for looking at me, please don’t stop”. He’s absolutely precious….and still getting bigger and bigger.

3 months

I love this little shot of him.

Thanksgiving at the Farm

Since it’s now December 1st, I found that it was appropriate to blog about Thanksgiving. Ha!

Justin had been running fever the two days prior to Thanksgiving so we decided to keep him away from the other young children and keep him from over-doing it! So I took baby Blaine and Troy to Hope Hull. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Most of us…my dad wanted to take pics with the cows in the background. The lighting was pretty bad but we went with it anyway…

In my grandmother’s closet under the stairs, Troy found a helmet. After Grandma said it was fine for him to wear it, he didn’t want to take it off. I wanted to remember this day exactly how he enjoyed it – hat an all. He also wore an infant’s glove on his left hand. Whatever floats the kids boat (within reason, of course).

We all had a blast. Never left my grandmother’s house to do anything…usually we’ll ride four wheelers or go see the horses. Not this time. The kids played and played until they were worn out. My cousin’s wife, Christiana, is one of the sweetest people and since I know her the least of our family members, I really enjoyed getting to know her better. My grandmother’s sister, Aunt Mary, loved baby Blaine and wanted to hold him the whole time. So sweet.
