10 Years

As we celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary today, I'd like to say thank you to Brian for being so faithful, loving and devoted to our family. We've had a roller coaster ride and it's been fun! Thank you so much, Brian, for what you do, have done and will do for me, Troy and the next little Corbitt. You are the best!

Happy Anniversary - how time has flown!

Updates

I think the fact that I'm pregnant hasn't sunken in with me. I'm super excited about a newborn. They are so sweet, cuddly and precious! Yes, they do require a lot of diaper changes, not as much sleep (for me) during the night, random crying and a lot of work. But, I miss having a little baby. Troy is such a joy but he is NOT cuddly and seems to be a very independent child (somewhat like his mother).

But, I have SO many ideas of what I want to do, things to clean out, sewing projects and randomness but not as much energy at the end of the day. Thank goodness the initial first 8-9 weeks have diminished and I am not dog tired in the middle of the day. BUT, I cannot seem to keep myself awake past 9 pm to do anything! I guess it's from working a full time job and chasing around a toddler? I don't know but I have no other excuses.

Also, I'm still nursing Troy. What you say? Are you crazy? Yes, I might be. However, he is almost a year old. We've made it this long without him needing any formula and since it's so darn close, I yearn to be able to provide his nutritional milk needs until he's a year. Yes, in a couple of weeks it's all over. A few months ago when I thought of weaning him, it made me sad. But, I think I'm ready. He's a big boy, it's become quite awkward and I think he'll be okay. I am so happy to know that we should make it until he's a year. I did get the green light less than a week ago from the pediatrician to begin adding an ounce or two of whole milk to the frozen stuff. He seems to be doing just fine with it so hopefully he won't have allergies with the whole milk. I suppose only time will tell.

Of course I did a lot of research on the whole pregnancy and nursing thing. It's actually okay. And, hopefully no one will get offended when I say this, some people nurse with each child, throughout pregnancy and then after the new baby is born. This actually has a term - tandum nursing. Nope, not for me. But to each her own, right?

Pacifier

Last weekend we took the pacifier away from Troy for his naps. We were contemplating taking it away cold turkey but remembered that we have a trip coming up this weekend. Out of the goodness of our hearts, we'll let him hold onto it at night until we get back from the trip (at least).
It is amazing to me how a baby can love a pacifier. I was attached to my thumb....for many, many years. While I'm glad that he hasn't been attached to a finger to suck, I hope he doesn't start!

Troy at 11 Months

I can say this:

He's a walking fool - wants to walk everywhere
Still loves going outside - hot or not
He sweats a lot - like his dad - but doesn't seem to care.
Troy loves people - he's a big flirt and loves to stare and smile at anyone until they smile back
He has begun getting upset a little bit when either I or Brian leave him with someone else
Words he's saying (besides Mama and Daddy):
Addie (for Abbie, the cat)
Ta-du (for thank you)
Uh-uuuh (for uh-oh)
O-day (for okay)
Ah-dide (for outside)
ight (for light)
He will try and copy many words: hot, kitty, more, water....
Favorite Toys: Ball and Wedgits (he isn't interested in saying the word "ball")
Troy has just begun hiding his face behind his hands and playing peek a boo. I think he really thinks we can't see him which is hilarious to me!
His favorite foods vary - I'd have to say milk out of a bottle. He LOVES the bottle. We've been working on weaning him because we want him off the bottle by the time he's one year. When he sees a bottle, he gets very excited and breathes fast and heavy.
Unfortunately he does not like his jumperoo anymore. He will cry when we put him in it. Guess he's OVER the confinement!
He loves to walk from one end of the house to the other and then in circles - through the kitchen, living room and dining room.
Troy is now saying "Daddy" and throws out and occasional "dada". If Brian or I are not at home when he wakes up in the morning, he goes around the house calling out "daddy or "mama" looking for us. Of course this warms our hearts!
He will come "running" to us for a hug, if only for a split second. He is not a cuddly little boy.
He has 6 teeth - 4 on the top and those 2 on the bottom. I don't see any new ones coming in (yet).
He also has been very healthy. I hope and pray this continues. I know he will get sick one day and while I'm reluctant to say anything, I know that when he gets sick, it's just going to happen!
Below he is doing what he does best: Holds a ball and walks

This is the best photo I could get of all of his teeth:
He really loves going outside. Not a huge fan of the grass so he walks on the sidewalk until he gets to the paved road. He likes the pavement - and tries to pick up the "rocks".

Googling

Are you a googler? I am. Love it. I’ve tried Bing but there’s just something about that beautiful Google page. It welcomes me with open arms. On special days when it’s decorated cute or different, I get excited about learning what the big deal is that day. Is it the day the light bulb was invented? Or maybe a contest for kids decorating google?

Anyway, below are a few things I've googled lately....

Visit

A couple of weekends ago, we had a fun visitor from Atlanta. Curry was Brian's roommate in college. We had some really great times with him. Brian MIGHT have said something about an ultimatum if he didn't come and see Troy before he turned a year. Have no idea if that had anything to do with his visit!
Curry also brought Troy a really fun wagon. We've decided that he can keep it in the house. He's enjoyed putting his toys in it and pushing it around. Of course he still gets mad when it gets stuck. We're trying to work on his patience. It's going to be a long battle!
Thanks for coming to see us, Curry!
